  • Condition: 30 years old, in great playing shape. No dents on the painted steel.(the shine spot shown in the 2nd image, is from the lighting) Some of the old orange paint has definitely worn away, not noticeable from a distance. Very decorative and plays better than ever.
  • Material: metal
  • Brand: Unbranded
  • Type: buganda style
  • Rare Buganda-style African shaped drum: to a pointed end.
    over 30 yrs old.
14 inches across on the drum head.
    Timpani sound.
Rawhide and woven sinews around painted steel (metal).
The bottom has a small manufactured hole and an inverted zone (quarter in size),
probably to go with an odd shaped stand like a Djembe.
However, the drum itself has the rounder tulip shape ending in a point, which goes back to Persia.
Looking at the bottom, it appears to be a reproduced kettle drum, of very high quality,
manufacturers name unknown, most likely less than a hundred metal kettles,
of this size and shape were ever built.
Can be used in a drum stand or in one’s lap.
    Has 1 handle &
    weighs 10 pounds.
Pretty good Caribbean tones, and very decorative.
