    • We sell a LOT of miniature sized specimens that are packaged in a variety of sizes of clear plastic display boxes.  I can’t count the number of times every year when folks ask us “hey, where can I get some of those display cases for miniature sized specimens (miniature sized specimens generally are those that range from 3 to 6 cm in maximum diameter, or between about 1.2 and 2.4 inches)?”  These come in varying types and we have sold the hinged type cases for a number of years, but have had a hard time finding a good inexpensive source for the friction fit variety that are made in Germany, mostly because the freight charged from Germany to us here in the USA was too expensive.  But recently we found a way to get them here at a low cost so we can now offer them at reasonable prices to our customers.
    So, we have acquired quantity stock of these German plastic display cases to be able to start offering them up in small groups for those of you who are out there looking for them.  There are a few plastics companies that supply these, but unless you are willing to purchase them in lots of 500 or more, the price can be pretty steep.  We typically buy 1,500 or more at a time, so we can get a pretty significant discount on them and are now going to start making them available to our customers.
    These are German manufactured plastics of high quality with external measurements of 6 x 4 x 4 cm (length x width x height), or about 2.4 x 1.5 x 1.5 inches.  The tops are clear and they fit into a white lipped base that is graduated thicker at the bottom than the top along the lip of the base on the sides, and thus the tops hold onto the bottoms through friction when put together so they stay together quite nicely.

    Plastic cases are great for mounting and displaying your mineral specimens.  The cases protect your specimen from humidity and damage, and keep them from getting dusty while being displayed.  Specimens in cases are also much easier to store and take up less storage space overall.  Give them a try, I think you will like the result!!
    Shipping on this item is based upon the actual weight and cost of shipping depending upon the ship-to locality and buyers choice of shipping methods.  A group of 10 of these boxes will be shipped in a 7 x 7 x 6 inch box with a total weight of 13 ounces.  Groups of multiples of 10 will usually reduce overall shipping costs.  PayPal is our preferred method of payment, but we do accept most other common payment options, so you if have a question about our payment policy, just drop us a note.
